As Freedom Force fans, I figured you all enjoy a story about Irrational Games being really awesome to a 10 year old kid.  Read the story here:

This is amazing!  Thanks for sharing this with us!

This reminds me when I was little and my dad showed me this game.  I couldn't put it down.  It was a game that made my dreams come true.  I mean, look at me, now! I'm 20 years old and I still get giddy about this game whenever I download new meshes, FX, skins, etc.  And I can't describe how awesome it is that this community, an amazing one at that!, is still around and still so passionate about this game!  Darn it, I think something is in both of my eyes!

Btw, are you Tom Jahnsen? I am guessing that you are because of the "tj" in your username and signature :P

Yep, that's me and that's a story I posted about my son Lex.  I figured the internet could use a positive story once in awhile... in this case, a story about Ken Levine at Irrational being really cool to a 10 year old kid.

Great story! Ken is definitely a class act. So nice of him to respond like he did (especially considering the game's age).
Loved reading about your boy's excitement!

BTW - by complete coincidence (!) I was cleaning up some drawers at home and came across some original art Ken had sent me years ago as well! Should try to post it sometime.

Great story. Glad to see Ken still remembers this game and it's fans.

Gratz to Lex. Ken was always cool when dealing with the Freedom Force players. It's nice to see he still is.  :)

I have to agree that that was a great story and Ken is a class act for responding to it that way. Making a kid's day like that is just awesome.

And, I must say that I have generally been very impressed by IG's efforts to be cool to fans, young and old. I recall that the roll-out of FFvT3R included free original drawings from the concept stage of FF and FFvT3R for fans who pre-ordered from IG. Of course, part of the goal is to generate a bit of buzz about the new game's release and promote sales in some way. But, that's not all of it and, arguably, not really most of it. The reality (that people like us often forget) is that fans as dedicated as we are comprise a very small fraction of any game's buyers and most of the "general public" isn't very exposed to our enthusiasm, and it doesn't have a huge impact on sales. Moreover, most of the people willing to pre-order from the developer in order to get some game swag are already so excited about the game that they are going to buy it anyway. So, my point is: Those little extras really are for the fans.

Ohh man, that's a great story and a great gesture on Ken Levine's part.  Thanks for sharing that with us, TJ! :D
