You may have heard of it - an awareness campaign to get money for research and treatment of ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease.  So far it's raised a ton of cash and is still going strong.

And today, I got challenged by one of my online friends.

Here's the result.  Enjoy.

Zapow (Tom) and G'daybloke were also challenged.  Their video is up on Facebook.

That's awesome GG. Thanks for sharing this. I've seen a few of my family and friends post videos on Facebook, it's been fun to watch, but it's nice to know it's for such a good cause.

When do people donate money to the organization? I get the ice bucket stuff, but I don't know where the money comes in. Funny videos, though.

SHJ, I believe this whole movement was done to bring awareness to ALS and then prompt donations. Donations can be made at the website of the ALS Association here: www.alsa.org

Glitch Girl, I really want to commend you for taking up the challenge, especially since you've been fighting your own battle against another condition.

I am very pleased to see that more awareness has been brought to ALS. I have always felt that it was somewhat overlooked considering the horrible nature of the disease. A number of years ago, I worked as a Research Technician in the Neuromuscular Research branch at the University of Texas Medical Center. There I learned and saw first hand how destructive and debilitating the disease is. Being diagnosed with it is a death sentence, and I will never forget the time that one of the Research Fellows nearly broke down in tears when she had to deliver the news to a patient and her family that the diagnosis of her condition was ALS.

I know that some out there have criticized the "Ice Bucket Challenge" for one reason or another, but the only thing that's going to help is funding for research. One of the biggest problems is research still needs to be conducted to even determine the cause(s) of ALS. Once that is known, then advances can be made for better treatment or, (insert your belief here) willing, a cure.

Thanks aagin for posting this, Glitch Girl, and kudos to you.
