Costume Rating 47: Wally West Future's End Kid Flash

In the current weekly Future's End depicting a the New 52 five years from now, Wally West (now an African american youth) becomes the new Kid Flash (or possibly even the Flash I'm not sure). He wears this:


Although in the interiors there seems to be a small change to mask:

So what do you think? (of either variation)

Meh, the open head thing really doesn't work for his hairstyle. It kinda reminds me of Impulse? I thought it was terrible the first few glances but on closer inspection, is somewhere kinda decent, maybe a weak 3.

The red lightning isn't doing this costume any favors.  If you see through that though, it's not too bad.  Not really remarkable, but not bad either.

2:  It's not absolutely awful, but it certainly isn't good.  The color scheme is ugly and doesn't really work for the character, it's horribly over-designed like all New 52 costumes, and it loses the beautiful, iconic simplicity of the class Flash and Kid Flash costumes.

3. Nothing too awful but it is over designed a bit. I prefer the no visible hair look.

I'll go with a 3, as well. At first glance, it doesn't look bad; but once I started looking it over, I liked it less and less. The closed head mask definitely looks better. I think it's a mistake to have anything intersecting with the chest logo. It might be the "classic fan" in me, but I believe that certain logos need to stand out on their own. Having lines intersecting it takes away from the impact. Also, since I'm not familiar with the character, could someone tell me if the forearm adornments serve any purpose? They look out of place and completely unnecessary, especially for someone that, one would assume, would want to be as aerodynamic as possible.

2. Sorry, it's just another case of a Nu52 overly designed mess.

The colors aren't bad, and the full face mask isn't too bad, but everything together...and it equals another fail.

I went with a 3.
I actually think there's a pretty decent costume in there but once again some over designed elements bog it down. Specifically the arm guards and body lines. I don't mind the open hair, but the cut they're using isn't right. Should be something more classic.

I like the colours, it's unique amongst the Flash designs. The full mask works better if he's Flash rather than Kid Flash.

Also, since I'm not familiar with the character, could someone tell me if the forearm adornments serve any purpose? They look out of place and completely unnecessary, especially for someone that, one would assume, would want to be as aerodynamic as possible.

If I understand correctly the character has barely appeared so far so there may not be an answer to that question yet.

3 for me. I don't mind the color scheme as something a bit different (it gives something unique to Wally's look with Barry being back) but as others have said, it's just too busy. I like the full mask more, but honestly if the cut was something more classic it wouldn't matter so much.

Urg.  It just doesn't look like a Flash costume.  Instead, it looks like a refugee from 90s Image Comics.
