So... Anyone here live in Nevada?

I'm gonna try to keep this short because I have to leave for work in a bit... Basically, my financial situation is becoming such that I realistically cannot live in this Maryland for very much longer. I've been watching my savings account slowly dwindle over the last few years, and every year I end up paying more on rent than I did the year before (My lease is currently $1140/m, and that's for the cheapest 2 bedroom apartment I could find). As such, I've started making some plans to move the hell away from here. One of my friends lives down in Las Vegas, Nevada, and he's offered me and one of our other friends a place to stay until we can get an apartment, as well as possible employment should I need it (he's hiring the other guy as a sound editor, which is why he's moving down... I'm just jumping on the bandwagon). It's a big step, but I honestly hate this state, I kinda hate my current job, I hate how much money this state gouges from me in every way possible.

Now, this isn't an immediate thing... I'm stuck with my apartment lease until end of December, so it'll be at least January before I can even go down there, and I'm discussing even holding off until I get taxes back next year (which would mean moving back with my parents for a month or so, so I won't have to pay Maryland rent either) to give me a bit more wiggle room financially. But... that being said, is anyone else living out in that basic area? It'd be nice to know more than like, 2 people in the place I'm going to be living for at least a couple years.

Be careful around those casinos they may lure you in with their lights and sounds but they'll take your money too and leave you divorced and destitute, playing dice with seven year olds at the elementary school until security escorts you off the premises. Trust me, it happened to my friend not me.

Yeaaahhh... no. I'm planning on living out in the rural Las Vegas area, not on the strip. I'm not really a big fan of larger cities, but I've been assured that the actual city of Vegas is far different from the strip.

Well as far as Nevada goes prepare for some oppressive heat in the summer, but I'm sure your friend's given you a head's up on that. That being said, the city away from the strip is pretty normal (Coming from someone who used to go twice a year with friends, but never gambled and did a lot of driving around.) Personally, I'm in Orange County Ca, (about 4 hrs from LV), but your welcome to hit me up if you ever come out this way. Btw, if you do move out to Vegas and your not a vegetarian your first stop should be In-N-Out Burgers.
