I'm starting early this time, because my life at present is rather... unpredictable would be a nice way of putting it.

Anyway, July 4th is all about patriotism, independence, flag waving, and love of country. Within in that, I see a lot of different concepts.



First, as Red, White, and Blue Glob shows, you can give your own avatar a patriotic color scheme. As RW&B Deadpool demonstrates, you can also give another comic character the same treatment. Then there is the guy in the middle: Captain Alabama. Perhaps it is the flag of the state you live in that makes your heart skip a beat, and there is nothing wrong with that. Of course, Captain Batman here shows another idea-kind of making a mash-up (not really an amalgam) of a non-patriotic themed character and a more patriotic one. Lastly, maybe it's your roots that call to you-the old sod as it were. To represent this idea, we have Captain Grand Fenwick-the protector of all that is Grand Fenwikese (Grand Fenwickian?), inveterate do-gooder, and adversary of all those pesky French.

RW&B Deadpool is such a great Skin, from concept to execution. I love it. Captain Grand Fenwick turned out really nice as well. If you're interested in a Shield Throw FX for him, send him my way, and I'll be glad to hook you up.

Two other options come to mind. Of course, you can simply do a patriotic hero, like Captain America, or the host of such characters that ran rampant in the '40s, or... well, Freedom Force is about "freedom", and patriotism, so...



Here we have Forcepool, a symbol for the ages, and Captain America for Tommy's bumpy mesh. I still haven't released this thing because I still can't get the reflections right. Ah well.

Captain GF is an original character. I decided to use Grand Fenwick as an example because it was fictional, and one of my favorite non-existent countries.

I was thinking that Forcepool looked a little dark...

Neat stuff! I'm going to count my Iron Patriot if that's okay. I have a lot on my plate as is and I can't really come up with a good idea otherwise.

Since the deadline is a ways I'm thinking of giving it a college try. I still don't have an idea what to make though. Should I make George Washington or something?

Ah, yes, Benton, I'm sitting here lazing around in Mobile.

CB: I did that emblem from scratch. It's based on another, but all the art on it is mine. I've thought of posting it so anyone can get it (the FG emblem and the FF emblem are in the same PSD file).

Alice: Whatever you do will be wonderful. George Washington as Super-President? 'Sides, you already did Iron Patriot.

Meh. I'm over thinking it though. Another two months in bed at least, all the time on my hands I could need you know? Funny how I dreaded this and now I'm actually sort of enjoying it. I've got more art study and reading done then anytime I can remember. I'll think of something in time either way.

I came up with something. Only a few days ago, as I've said I'm not very good at these but I'm doing a known patriotic themed character. I'll save it for a surprise though, hopefully in the week.

This is far from finished, but I wanted to make sure I had it up before the 4th of July.

After the televised death of John Walker (USAgent), public support of both the Military, and Superheroes, was at an all time high. Having confiscated and modified the work of the Power Broker, and with the help of Tony Stark, the American Shield Units were created by the American Government. Thousands of Genetically Altered, Technology Enhanced Soldiers were released into battlefields across the Globe. With it's newfound power, the United States Government began to take control over smaller Nations, building a power base that would allow for the eventual rise to Global Power of the United States of America.

@cyber - i'm really glad to see you skoping and skinning again, not that i don't appreciate all your fx, but i missed your original characters.

I don't know, scheduling is kind of tight, for me personally, I'd be inclined to push things back a bit farther. August, maybe? If we went that route, here's a couple of observances that might be interesting:

Aug 19 - National Aviation Day
Aug 21 - Senior Citizens Day
Aug 26 - Women's Equality Day

I'm actually leaning towards "National Aviation Day", maybe we could all make Fliers or something.



...But I am sooo putting in for "Leif Erikson Day" come October 9th!!!  :D

yeah, i think i'm the king when it comes to embarrassing skinning attempts. i'd like to see your patriotic skin outcast.
