SickAlice

I'm starting this thread for any and all Secret Wars character requests not only to be directed at myself but just in general for whomever wants to take one or more on when they have the time. After picking up today's pull I concluded this would be a hot topic. This way we can keep it all in one place in a checklist noting which have been done and where to find them, which are requested but still not answered and which are flapping in the wind. I'll amend this as we go. For today I'll leave it blank since this is only the first release date and I want to snuffle any spoilers as well I'm uncertain (seemingly even the wiki is as well) as to who exactly some of these alternates actually are. Hopefully this is a good move that make things more convenient in the long run.

Content that is already available/finished requests will be hyperlinked and in bold green, pending requests bold red with the requesters name afterward, answered request WIP in bold yellow with the requester after and modder before. Costumes that are throw-backs from older comics will be noted in () and " variant " typed if the same character wore another look in SWS, else the look is to be assumed new to Secret Wars 2015.

Thank you to everyone who contributes in any shape or form and all those who made content over time to link here. Any help compiling the database and corrections will be appreciated.

Well I don't anticipate skinning much of the Battleworlds versions (there is one on my radar) but there's a number of characters from the first issue that I'm interested in - on both sides of the conflict. One of them I almost started last weekend but I ran out of time.

Haven't read Secret Wars yet, but I've heard good things. I plan to pick it up in trade. I still want to read through Hickman's Avengers, trying to get all of it on sale, still need some of the Time Runs Out issues. Can't wait to read it all.

I'm in the same camp. The Time Runs Out ones are what I'm enjoying doing. I'm working on a Reed, Doom, Ben and a couple more skins for the Sue pack as we speak. SW Sinister is the only so far I have personal interest in making. But I preemptively considered Secret Wars skins would be in high demand as were Marvel NOW! designs and rather than see the request board become stacked and requests disappear into the pages thought to make a central point for said requests. Likewise if users see something in Secret Wars they want in game I urge them to post it so we can keep track. I'll make a note of the post in the OP. I will be updating this within the week.

If you liked Hicman's F4, FF, Infinity and Time Runs Out you'll love the main SW series I guarantee it. It's the absolute zenith or apex of his stories. Likewise, and sorry to sound like a spokesperson here, but this is must read for Ultimates fans as well. The tie-ins can be taken or left depending on preference though for the Ultimates fans or people who want the skinny on the new Manhattan I suggest Ultimate End as it covers that and how the 616 and Ultimate characters are relating to one another (this continues Miles story as well of course).

ghazkul

Can I add onto this thread? looking to skin the 2099 Cap America, need a female muscular mesh, with a ponytail and falcon (the marvel guy) wings for flight anims.

Sure thing. The idea is to get them all and make a checklist, then when anything gets done I'll add a hyperlink where to find it.
I have all those promo designs on deck. I'll come on later tonight and do a big overhaul. I'll also think of a system that shows when there's a request and for whom.
So tonight I'll list that character (under 2099 of course) and then make a remark of your request so anyone can contact you when it's done.

* Edit: listed up to SW2099#1. Added Pending request for ghazkul. Needs a few of the published issues listed, confirmations of characters and links to existing skins/meshes

Thank you again to anyone who pitches in and who has provided content already. It's real neat to go through everyones sites and see it sum this up. That's a testament to the dedication of this community to me. Also that's helping me work out the master list. Again though I'm only person, if anyone knows links off hand to any listed that I didn't put a link up for please feel free to throw in. Thanks.

I think the only thing I've read by Hickman is his Avengers and New Avengers up to the end of Infinity. I liked Avengers alright, and quite enjoyed New Avengers, but I was trying to get my pull list down and those books seemed like great choices to read later in bulk. I plan to read through it once I've got all the issues. Secret Wars and Ultimate End are on my list too.

Just the other day I picked Hickman's entire Fantastic Four run during a sale on Comixology. Hope to start reading that soon. I've heard good things.

I figure he got the big job for good reason. He said he's taking a break after SW. Good. I mean I like reading his comics but he's high caliber as far as I'm concerned. I'd love to see him up there with Whedon doing movies or something. Actually the idea of a sci-fi movie done by Hickman is pretty overwhelming.

Hope the new updates to this list work for everyone. Lemme know if you guys want something different. I tried to play it simple as possible for now.

I was just looking at the list and I think by definition I have to skin POD

Working on the 2099 lot. Ironman is using a mesh from LP (Shiar Imperial Guard guy) using in the picture AA's Ironman skin for the male_basic while I skin a new one. Widow is AA's Zenwoman, needs detailing and the spider harness skoping on in time.

SickAlice

@Podmark: I thought the same thing when he first showed up in Avengers.
@ghazkul: Those are very sharp. Good job.

spydermann93

@ghazkul: Those look really cool! I can't decide which one is better!

Those are cool ghazkul.

Speaking of Pod, any ideas how to skope one together?

Ref 2
Ref 3
Size reference
Weapon ref 1
Weapon ref 2
Weapon ref 3

Not something I'm planning to do immediately, but a bit of long term planning.

EDIT: Added some images of Pod's weapons. I'm not concerned whether the skope has a transforming gun or anything, but I figured it's good to keep in mind.

When I posted that last night I did not expect such a fast response. You are shockingly quick!

Na. Again it depends on the complexity and more whether it's something I'm good or weak at. As well reference material as always. Going to make an ubernerd of myself here but I've read Hickmans stuff through three times over all the way back to Fantastic 4 and some issues especially from TRO many more times over than that. Even all the related stuff like Fantastic Force and the Dark Reign mini (this ones worth it's weight in gold just to see the kids trollhard Norman. They also gave away Time Runs Out/Secret Wars way back in that mini if you look hard enough). So I have images of the characters burnt in my head. Sculpting a basic mesh is pretty easy for me, I made myself practice that on all the alien Emotional Spectrum members. And Pods bits are pretty simple shapes. I do like getting the chance to sculpt one one my own like this instead of snarfing off professionals models. Otherwise some things take me forever. Like the Storm one. I've been at that for awhile now but I'm doing a few things I've never tried before and some I'm techniques I'm discovering as I do it by trial and error. So I basically got lucky on this one. Really interesting character as well and I'm glad to be a part of that one. Can't wait to see where you two take it, also to put the finished result in game.

Oh the above list is nearly up to date. Just need to work in any C6 skins and the ones buried in old Yahoo groups. And then of course it will get another expansion Thursday. God there are so many tie ins. I hope Marvel doesn't end up in the red over this thing, seems risky.

Again thanks to everyone for your contributions here as well to the Master I'm composing. Really great to see how active and involved everyone in the community has gotten in the past two weeks or so. Not to mention of course just how long everyone's been at it. How may years now? I can't even put my finger on it. I just remember the Skindex story in an old Wizard magazine and the following weird legal issues that floated over fanart. And the Mesh Editor. I don't even use it anymore of course but I installed it on this laptop anyways. It's like a totem or keepsake to me. Anyone else have this old friend on their system? Remember using this before Nifskope and Blender?

detourne_me

I have to echo your sentiments here SA, it's been really amazing seeing everyone pull together the last few weeks, but I think we have you to thank for that.  You've really lit a fire under a lot of our bottoms.  I wish I could keep up the productivity, but next week is finals, and I'm getting swamped with grading and feedback.

I've never heard of that Pod character before, but he looks pretty cool. I really need to get started on the Hickman Avengers stuff, I really loved his F4 run.  Maybe over summer?

Gaz, those are some sweet designs for 2099 characters! Never seen them before either, are they new designs for secret wars?

I want to say that I saw this in something that Tommyboy had released, but I had no idea what it was, or what to do with it.

Agreed, I've never seen the Character before, but it looks really cool, and I can't wait to check out the finished product.

@detourne_me: Thanks. People do what they wish though. We're creatures of motive. Though everyone here should believe in themselves and know that their are no obstructions in life, only obstacles to be jumped over. There's still a lot of things here and in other areas of life and art I either struggle with or have no idea. But that fact is they're by no means impossible or even hard. It's just a matter of learning anything. My next speaking of is still Zbrush. After one of the houses is done I'm going to allocate some time of each week for taking tutorials in that. Also some more for mapping again as I really want to make those detailed little sets. Time is an advantage I have too. As in much downtime. I took like...six years off Freedom Force? I spent about two years of it sculpting (wood, clay and other materials instead of 3d models) and taking on a student there and making custom action figures for my friends kids. There's never an expectation to be dedicated to one thing in life and that's what makes it fun.

In truth I've seen anyone hit the " burn out " phase here and the trick that I learned in art school is when your bored with it switch mediums for awhile. So say if your skinning and your hearts just not in it switch to mapping, FXing and so forth. Getting bored with texturing is what led me to try and learn modelling. And then of course if it's the whole modding experience in general take up a different medium all together. That's what keeps an artist fresh. On a related note to anyone do " character study ". My art teachers used to shove that down my throat and I always avoided it because it seemed menial but now I swear by it. Pinterest is my go to site for that. Search fields like character study of course, character design, character concept, fashion, couture and then relevant adjective like sci-fi, techno, hero and so on. Doing that has been an eye opener and taught me a lot about how to approach some of these costumes in 3d space from 2d which in itself is of course the biggest challenge of it.

In the end though everyone did their part here, something I really love about this process. Like take tommyboy for example. He's not currently releasing things but everything he did release is always still in use. Everything he taught is always still applied and echoed. Same goes for your works and ideas. Really " forever " is the perfect term for it.

@Cyber Burn: Basically it was a hex editor. Really nifskope is partly hex editor with a visual interface and then game engine options added when you think of it right? So take the visual end out and the options and just leave the Edit function of Nifskope. So translation, scales and rotation. In other words you had to guess what the thing you were doing looked like. We had a person or two that was a wizard with that thing, myself the only thing I sort of pulled off was AoA Bishop (changed the bandana into a drape and move the radio into that thing on his cranium). I remember it taking forever and being such a process that I swore off using it and just let things " sort of look like " what they should thereafter. Then of course Nifskope came about and that was history. I thanked the makers of that personally back in the day. I should thank whoever made the Blender nif scripts as well. As a person who doesn't have whatever specific version of Max (4.1-4.2 was it? I have 8 or 9 I think.) that's been a real treat.

@ghazkul: Wanted to ask, any plans on making those available to the community? I'm sure a lot of people would like that. Personally I really want that Widow.

Podmark

Nice to see some interest in Pod. In the grand scheme of things a minor character, but I thought it was interesting. I'm curious if Pod will see any more use after Secret Wars.

I just remembered I've read the entirety of Secret Warriors too!
That was pretty good, a little uneven and all over the place but I enjoyed it.

Also I love Stefano Caselli.

That's a good question. Given she's Hickman stock and he's going on hiatus probably not. Then again she lines up with the political agenda (diverse character) so maybe? I'd like to see Pod explored. I want that for any character really. I hate when they show up and vanish again with no real dimension added, it's a waste. Thanks for remembering that you read Secret Warriors so I could remember that I also read it, lol. Good book, can't believe I spaced that one out either. Hope the nif works for you two. If you need to make size adjustments I'm sure you won't have a problem with that. I made the guns larger than need be for example just to makes sure they cover the hands completely during anims. If you need anything specific done shoot me a PM, though I'm leaving to have surgery in a bit I will be home late tonight and working on Freedom Force stuff. Mostly cleaning my hard drive but you get the idea.

Bumping this so I can work on it tonight. I'm going to redo it and place the character versions by Battlezones instead of appearance as I think that will be more convenient. I'll come back and edit this post once I'm done with it. I'm removing TRO as well as that's pre-SWS lest the characters are in the Survivors bracket or rehashed somehow, likely in Ultimate End in that case as it takes place in the moment of that final incursion and builds off it.

Helix

Ghazkul - those 2099 skins are beautiful!!

Cyber- the hex editor is useful for getting rid of parts that are difficult to see in nifskope due to overlap.
