Accidentally hit "Love" instead  of "Like", d'oh!

There is a surprising amount of stuff I think works on this like the armored discs.  The boots are my biggest problem with the design: the metal strips on the boots look more like tiger stripes how they're drawn and really look better when set more evenly and closer together.  The kneepads are also a little overboard.

I never knew what those stripes on his boots were for, but I would've never guessed that they were "metal strips", haha :P

And yeah, those kneepads are a bit ridiculous, but I love 'em! They fit his character (flair, arrogance, etc.), that is, before he was banished to earth, lol

I'll click "Like" for you, GG, because I love this design, more so than anything he's been given recently.  It will balance out that way :P

I went with a mild Like. I like the costume, it has some good colour balance and unique design elements. One aspect I've always liked is that it takes a very fantasy based concept but does in a way that works really well beside other superhero-esque designs. I don't look at Thor and go "That's a fantasy character standing beside superheroes". It blends both together so that it fit.
That said I'm happy to leave it in the past, some of the newer designs have really improved on the concept.

Yeah, I agree that this is one of those "Great concept, but later designs did it better" kinda deals. Without this thor design, we wouldn't have the later ones, but it's still weaker than the designs that came later.

Personally, Copiel's design is my favorite thor. Enough of the old, but with enough cool changes and additions to stand out.

Since the first time I saw Thor was in a colorless copy of Journey Into Mystery #83 I read in a barber shop, I have a fondness for this costume. I agree that the "blue spots" are better conceived as armor on a leather tunic, and his boots are supposed to be knee-high with leather straps from the ankle to the knee (I have an old action figure of Thor where they "stripes" are colored brown, same color as the leather wrapping on his hammer). I gave it a like, but some later conceptions are probably closer to what they should have been. But it is also based on the idea that this Thor was a super-hero, and not a fantasy hero.

I gave it a solid like, 4.  I think y'all have probably covered my thoughts pretty well.  This design is cool in its blending of fantasy and superhero elements, but it isn't a complete success. It's still memorable and striking, and it is impressive how well derivatives of this work on the big screen.

Gave it a like, but agreed with others, that some costumes that came later were better

Ditto, by far my favorite look for Thor. Also like the Marvel NOW! version, but Coipel is def a fave.
