Does anyone know how to mod map textures? And maybe even the gui?

BentonGrey

Modding map textures is actually pretty easy.  The GUI can be done too, but I forget the specifics.  It's just a matter of replacing the right things in the right folders.  Hopefully somebody remembers.

For maps, you just open the map mission.dat in Nifskope, look at all the linked textures, and replace those textures with whatever you want.  You can edit the texture itself, or just put in your own with the same name.  If you want to be sure you don't overwrite anything important, you can do this in a mod folder.

Also, color me intrigued!

I wasn't able to get it to work. How do I open .dat in nifskope?

Ahh, sorry Ram, my mistake!  I mistyped.  You open the terrain.nif, not the map .dat.  Check here for terrain files:

QuoteC:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Freedom Force vs. the 3rd Reich\MYMOD\Art\library\terrain

You may need to copy them over from somewhere else.  If you aren't sure which terrain file your map uses, open the mission in FFEDIT and look at the layout entries in the mission objects box.  Look for impobj_0.  That should show you the data path.
