FFEDIT problems

I've been experiencing some difficulty with FFEDIT for  . It worked normally a few days ago. However, when I ran it today, it would only display a window saying: "FFEDIT has been set up incorrrectly: please reinstall." After clicking the ok button, it displays another window saying that it is a runtime error and that the application has requested Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the  mod tools, but nothing changed.

I run the steam version of and windows had an extremely long update earlier today if either of those are relevant. Has this problem arisen before?
