Hello all you FF games out there (who are still around and playing that is lol)...

I am a long time player of both FF & FFv3R, and after a long hiatus, I have come back to the game I have loved to play since I first discovered it/them such a long time ago. As such, I have been playing FFv3r currently, and catching up & relearning all there is about the game, as well as trying to get as many Meshes/Skins, Mods, Tools, and Tutorials I can on the game. For the most part, I have been successful and have regained & relearned a lot, despite much of the info & resources being so old, and sometimes lost. So I just wanted to say hi to you all, and am pleased to see that the game(s) are still being played (and modded) with much love and affection. Oh, and of course I do have some questions to ask as well (the first's of many I am sure lol), and I apologize in advance if I have asked them in the wrong section here on the forums. As my current questions may cover different areas of these forums, and seeing as this is my first post here, I thought it might be better to ask them all in one lump sum here instead. And so without further adu...

* Where exactly can I download "tommyboy's MegaMap" for freedom force vs the 3rd reich? I have searched all over for this specific pack, and have yet to find it anywhere. 🤨

* Where can I get some "voice pack's" for ffv3r? While the in game voice ones are ok, I would certainly love to have a more extensive selection to choose from.

* Is there anywhere I can go to fine created or premade "Hero Files" for characters in general; and even more specifically, for such well known established characters as Wolverine, Superman, Spider-Man, Thanos, Darkseid, Dr Doom, The Avengers, Fantastic 4, and so many others? Again I have done an extensive search for any and all Hero Files, but no such luck.Twould be a shame to have to create them by scratch, seeing as one can have hundreds of characters in game that need hero files, ya know?

* As a sideline to the above question, where in the FFv3R game directory are the Hero Files for the Heroes/Villain's located specifically? I have looked threw all my game files, and can find no "Hero" folder anywhere, even though the Character folder does exist and is easy to find.

* How do I change my in game control settings within option/preferences while in the game? With other games, all we would have to do is click on the keybind section and imput (or change) the key we would want to use, but so far nothing I do seems to be able to either access them or imput/change any settings. Tis frustrating to be sure, so any help in this regard would be appreciated. 🙂

And finally.. for now at least lol... 😁

* Why does ffv3r EZNifConverter converter fail to convert some characters, while it functions quite well with others? And how do I fix this so it works with every character I wish to convert? For the most part, the Tool works perfectly and without issue, but sometimes, while it appears to work (though a bit slower), no new character.nif or keyframes.kf appears (I always have the Tool save these new files in a new folder... you know, just to make sure that they have been created. This can be quite annoying, and having looked all around, I can find no explanation as to why this happens, what causes it, and/or how to fix it. I can give a more specific explanation if you wish, so please feel free to ask if it will help at all.

So there ya go FF people, my 6 questions for you all. Thank you for your time in reading my first post, and in advance for helping me with these questions of mine. And again, it is great to see that the game(s) & community hasn't totally died as of yet, because truth be told, Freedom Force is one of the best SP superhero games out there. 😁 God bless you all, never stop playing, and as always, Without the Wax...

Peace...

Greetings.  If this is your return trip to all things FF, do you recall if you had an account here previously that you'd like to recover?  If so, send a PM to stumpy about it (you can find a link to his account up in FAQs & Rules, or just search for him).

In case you've missed these things in your initial searches, here's some good places to get started (which I'm sure will be added to by others):

Alex's site:  http://alexff.com/ (since you haven't found .hero files)

Wyldfyre's FF Museum (an attempt to archive works that have lost hosting):  http://ffmuseum.org/

Freedom Force Forever (rehosted):  http://freedomforce4ever.com/  (Tommy's site is here, and has maps, which may or may not be the same as the pack you were looking for)

FRP Backups (honestly, it's been so long I can't remember the full name of the site):  https://www.mediafire.com/folder/54p15ym5659qh/FRP_Backup
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/2455688dit53d/FRP2_Backups

FXForce Backup:  https://www.mediafire.com/folder/4g4ekoni8gxdl/FXForce

NPI in the Wayback Machine (I think this one still has working links):  https://web.archive.org/web/20070125000811/http://www.newpowerinc.com/

VPMaxx (large VP installer for FFVTTR):  https://www.mediafire.com/file/9qctrbr9s6i2i0d/VPMAX.zip/file

That should cover some of your requests, and some you didn't know you had.  I'm sure others will chime in on some of the more detailed questions.

Hero files - I've got tons by USAgent and a few others. Okto did some not too long ago - each one in depth. I never really did too much with them myself though.

Okto has his own thread and mediafire backup site.

For the others - http://www.freedomreborn.net/forums/index.php?topic=59763.msg818903#msg818903

Location - http://www.freedomreborn.net/forums/index.php?topic=59560.msg813252#msg813252

Check out EZhero on Alex's page.

I have a list with some basic info and some links, as well as a massive list in progress of characters available.

http://www.freedomreborn.net/forums/index.php?topic=60643.0

EZnif converter - many nifs had massive changes made with nifskope and/or hex editing, and the converter can't handle them. Usually they're easy enough to convert with 3ds Max or Blender, but there's some that won't even work with those.

Also realize that many FF meshes work fine in FFvt3R without converting. Try and see if they work there.

Voice packs - I don't work a lot with those either. Your best bet is to search the boards. Both this one and the archives at the top of the page.

For the hero files and where to put them, I found both answers in just a few seconds by searching the forum. Search is your friend.

Hey! Thank you so much @Randomdays & @Panther_Gunn, for not only replying to my first post and questions, but also for all the help and links you provided! 😁

They (and you two) have been extremely helpful, and I greatly appreciate it, thanks. I was indeed able to get a ton of Maps, Voice Packs, and Hero Files, and boy is there a lot lol. It is also great to know about the EZNifConverter as well, though as I haven't ever used Blender at all, nor wouldn't even have a clue how to use it or where to start learning how to (which I know would be a long involved process for me lol), I guess I'll just forgo using any characters which stubbornly refuse to be converted (which is again, rare); but that's ok. However I do have another question which I sincerely hope you can help me with.

You see, with some characters I create, and even some of those which have already been created by others, when I go to use them in game and test them in the Rumble Room, they don't work at all and I get this message in game...

- Character found with duplicate "complex" value. Quit and run FFX Control Center. -

However, when I do run the FFX Control Center, the character(s) partially work (either in moving towards the foe, but neither of them attacking each other, OR neither of them moving or doing anything at all). And yeah, having done a bit of research into the Control Center, I did see that when used, it has some funky buggy issues when working in the Rumble room. :( So would you, or anyone, know of a fix for this or at least a work around for this message & bug I am getting? In addition, I do also have another side question, which involves Alex's Freedom Fortress EZ Hero tool.

For some reason, if I make a character in game (only), it seems to work fine, but when I use this tool afterwards (or even use it to create a new character on its own), the above in game message appears (even if the character created in the same way's is made). Why would the EZ Hero Tool be giving me an issue like this, when if I create the same type of character in game (powers & abilities the same and all), it doesn't? Also there is this issue as well. I have just the base FFv3R installed, with only FFX & EZ FX added to the game... e.g: no other Campaigns, or New Maps, or Mods added to it. However, when I create a new character & Hero File via the EZ Hero tool, there seems to be something... weird about it. You see, afterwards, even when I remove the created Hero File, the EZ Hero tool still shows it as still being there, even though the game itself doesn't show it being there anymore.

So it is almost like the EZ Hero tool is looking at Hero Files from other game directories sometimes. This was why I asked where Hero Files were placed & stored in the game, as well as where the normal in game characters Hero Files were stored as well (like with Minute Man... I can't seem to fine ANY Hero File for him at all in the game's directory at all). This is all confusing to me, and quite frustrating too a bit, as sometimes EZ Hero tool doesn't seem to like to work right all the time with the game. So if anyone could please help a poor idiot out with this issue as well, I would really appreciate it.

In either case, thanks again you two BIG time for your kind help. I just hope you, or anyone else here can please help me out again. :)

Peace...

P.S: Oh, and in case you were wondering, here are my in game directories...

   * Game Directory: G:\Games\PC Games\Steam\Program\steamapps\common\Freedom Force vs. the 3rd Reich

   * EZ Hero Tool Hero Files Directory: C:\Users\BjorJlen\AppData\Local\Irrational Games\Freedom Force vs the 3rd Reich\Custom\Heroes
   * EZ Hero Tool DAT Files Directory: G:\Games\PC Games\Steam\Program\steamapps\common\Freedom Force vs. the 3rd Reich\Data
   * EZ Hero Tool FFv3R Meshes Directory: C:\Users\BjorJlen\AppData\Local\Irrational Games\Freedom Force vs the 3rd Reich\Custom\Art

And for S&G's, here is the Directory of my FFX3 Folder (as I play that the most, for all the new FX's and all)...
   * G:\Games\PC Games\Steam\Program\steamapps\common\Freedom Force vs. the 3rd Reich\ffx3

Welcome to the forums BjorJlen!

For making a hero, here's how I do it:

1) Make your hero either in-game or with the EZHero Tool.
2) (OPTIONAL) Open your hero in the EZHero Tool and give them the AIGenericHero AI. Save the hero.
3) Open the FFX Control Centre. The "Install Dir" should be pointing to where your game is installed. If it isn't, let us know and we can help you. Modern Windows installations can be a bit annoying with it.
4) Select the mod folder that you're using. Most of the time it will be FFX, but it may be something else.
5) Select any hero in the list (doesn't have to be your hero) and hit Save. This will write your hero to the ffx3/Missions/Scripts/ffxID.py file. That is necessary for ffx3 to recognize and brand your character.
6) Open the mod and run your character through the M25AI generator. This will help give your characters the ability to use their FFX3 specific attributes and help them out in a fight.

Once you do all that, your character SHOULD work fine. If you're trying to use hero files made by other people, you'll need to check a few things:

1) Check that you have the proper mesh. If the character shows up in the Character screen, it should be alright.
2) Check that all of the powers have their appropriate FX. If you open a power and its using the Alchemiss Slap (for melee) or Acid Spray (for projectile) FX, it may be missing the appropriate FX. The EZFX extension by Abenavides on Alex's Freedom Fortress should have most of what you're looking for.

It's a lot of stuff, but I hope this helps! If you have any questions, I'll try and help you out.

EDIT: Oh, for not being able to find Minuteman's hero file, he's what we call a "built-in" character. Built-in characters are those that are packaged with the base game or mod and their profiles can be found using the FFEdit tool, which is also available on Abenavides' site. FFEdit is a tool that lets you look at the characters, powers, fx, and attributes packaged with the game. It is extremely helpful and necessary if you want to make your own story missions, add new attributes, add new fx, etc.

FYI, any meshes that you just can't get to convert, feel free to ask about them in the Requests forum.  Other people may have had better luck getting them converted, or there may be a corrected version that gets around the problem.

I have an archive of heroes but I change the names of the folders so that they are ordered in the way that is practical for me. That is to say that except for having everything the same as me, it would not serve you.

Hi Guy's and Gal's... :)

First off, thank you Randomdays for the links to Blender; I very much appreciate it. However, after looking threw them, I am convinced more than ever that using Blender in any way is WAY beyond my skill sets, like the caveman I am lol. So I will leave the actual use of it to those far more intelligent and experienced than I. 😁 Also, might I say that after looking threw your Mods page, I can seftly say that I am floored by how much work you (and others of course) have done in creating content! It is all very, very impressive, and most excellent work too. Kudos man! 👍

Next, thank you incredibly much for the detailed, step by step, directions in how you make a Hero File. I have already copied/pasted it into my Info/Tips folder, and will certainly make use of it. However I do have one question concerning it. While I do have, and have used the FFX Control Panel, I have no idea what the M25AI Generator is. From doing some research here, I found out that it generally should be located within the folder where you have all your Hero Files located, but looking again threw the entire directory completely (e.g: C:\Users\BjorJlen\AppData\Local\Irrational Games\Freedom Force vs the 3rd Reich), it is nowhere to be found. I assume it is a .exe file right? So am I looking in the wrong directory maybe? Could it be that I don't even have it somehow?... And if so, how can I get it? Also, how do I use it in the first place? Would there be a tutorial on it's use by chance? So yeah, I am a bit stuck atm (again lol), but I do appreciate the great help so far. :) And if you, or anyone else could please give me a hand with this particular question, that would be amazing. In either case, thanks again one and all, and as always, Without the Wax ...

Peace...

Oh, sorry! I forgot to specify that!

When you run FFX3, go to the Rumble Room. One of the game modes will be the M25 ai generator. Select that game mode, select whatever characters you would like to run with it (either in your party or as an "enemy"). You only need one of every character. Once you have all of the characters you want, start the match. You should see text in-game telling you that M25 ai files are being generated for every character. It should end the match when its done.

Make sure you run them in the FFX Control Centre first! Otherwise you may see error messages as it attempts to generate your hero files.

Once all of your m25ai files have been generated, you can find them in the same folder as your hero files. They will all have the .m25ai file extension (if you have file extensions showing). You can then modify them with Notepad++ or any other text editor. A manual for how to modify the m25ai files can be found in your ffx3/Manual folder. Just open the Index.html in any web browser and have at it!
