Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing a frustrating issue with the FFX Control Center and I'm hoping someone here might be able to help.

Recently, I had to install an older version of Python on my PC to run the ghosting fix .nif script. The only change I made was installing this older Python version without uninstalling the version that comes with PyCharm. After this modification, the FFX Control Center can no longer locate the DATA folder, where the mods are stored. It seems that the installation path has automatically changed to:

C:\Program Files\Irrational Games\Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich

However, the game is actually installed in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Freedom Force vs the 3rd Reich

Now the control center can't find the DATA folder, and my mods aren't appearing in the list. :( :( :(

I have tried reinstalling FFX multiple times, making sure to set the correct installation path, but the issue persists. If anyone has encountered a similar issue or has any suggestions on how to resolve this, your help would be greatly appreciated!

ah, I can help with this!

Look here at Alex's post: https://www.freedomreborn.net/forums/index.php?topic=60434.msg825588#msg825588

This worked wonders for me. Basically it will force the Control Centre to look at whatever you put in that file. Just make a backup of your ffx3edit.exe first.

i'm having trouble understanding this part:

QuoteDon't forget to put in binary '00' for all bytes after that until you see the 'r' (don't change the 'r' or anything after it)

So, i select the pathway in the file, and i paste over it the new pathway:
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Freedom Force vs the 3rd Reich

When i try to open the file, automatically closes itself, and my antivirus throws a warning.

Any clue?

It seems the new pathway is too long and that disrupts the functioning of the exe. I will have to try reinstalling FFVT3 with a shorter new pathway.

yay!

Glad you got it figured out! Would've helped quicker, but I was out for Mother's Day and all that.

Also glad you figured it out.

So there is a limit to how long a pathway can be for FFX? this is very handy to know!

It's more that the space allocated to a path in the exe is limited. You can have the game installed wherever you want, but the default path will always be limited (which makes sense since it will never change).
