Any about Dinosaucers, Hello Kitty and doc mcstuffins

Thanks for all

BentonGrey

Howdy RommnyNa, I think Dean may have done some Dinosaucers?  Am I imagining things again, folks?

deanjo2000

I've not done any dinosaucers. Extreme dinosaurs is on my list if I can figure them out.

BentonGrey

Well, I guess I did make that up.  Dean, you've so many of the 80s cartoons, so I guess I just conflated them with the rest of the awesome stuff you've been making.  :D

I don't know the Dinosaucers, but the head of the triceratons could serve for one of them.

RommyNa

There are videos of the cartoons that I requested on YouTube, maybe someone can take the model from the video or recreate it from observing it.

cranlox

I'll see if I can do something. What character did you like?

cranlox

Here I share with you the little that I could do due to a health issue, it is the weapon for the Doc and the dinosaur head for RommmyNa
Both could be improved and textures corrected if you feel like it

and a generic body

Cranlox, this pistol is perfect as a purification gun for the Foolkiller. I don't know if I can replace it with the ones on the male_hunter mesh. And if you can get dinosaur heads we can try to do Dinosaucer skopes.

Randomdays

I already did a bunch of Dinos, and their heads are low poly enough to work with by cutting them off and reskinning.

I know nothing about the show really though.

On the gun above - Cranlox's meshes are nice and it could probably be swapped in, but be aware that they are fairly high poly compared to the FF games. You can kind of see that in the pics he used where they show the wireframe.

The FF games do have a limit on polycount for a single piece. I've been able to get past that some by breaking a mesh up into separate pieces, where each piece is below the limit, and them joining them together again.

Rigging a highpoly mesh to a FF game armature can take awhile, even with some tricks that I've learned.

RommyNa

And why does mesh make that can't be used in the game?

Randomdays

Not sure of the question, but FF and FFvt3R are over 20 years old. They are considered low poly compared to what is coming out in games now.

The nif format that the FF games used used to to popular and there was a bunch of games back then that used it, but now other formats have been introduce and its no longer supported. The latest versions of Blender can't even import it.

To bring imports into the games like I do, I have to convert them from their native format to the "obj" one, which is still fairly common and almost universally recognized, and bring it into Blender.

In Blender, I bring in a FF/ FFvt3R nif as a donor with its skeleton, bounding and selection boxes. I add the new character to it, delete the old character and "rig" the new character to the skeleton - every point of the character mesh has to be attached to a bone in the skeleton.

A 1000 or so points (vertexes) isn't so bad, but some of the newer characters can have tens or hundreds of thousands of vertexes in it.

RommyNa

So for each character do you manually arrange more than 1000 vertices? Why doesn't the number of Calox polygons decrease when making the meshes?

Thanks for answerme

Randomdays

Yes, sometimes. There is an option to do it automatically by tying it to the closest bone, but it doesn't work very well.

I usually do one bone at a time, like the right foot, and them move on to the next - leaving the most complicated bone till last when that can be done automatically.

I'm not sure how Cranlox's program works, besides that it can take pictures at various angles and turn it into a 3D mesh. Since its a newer program it can handle a higher polycount than FF can.

The cartoon cowboy head he made that I attached to a lower poly character is an example of that. Though the head is a much higher polycount than the model, but all the vertexes on it are tied to a single bone - the head. A full body would be much more complicated.

There are ways to decrease the polys in a mesh, which I have to do sometimes, both with Blender and other programs, but this sometimes messes with the way a skin is applied to the mesh.

You can get a good looking character with a lot of polys, but you can also get a good look, like with FF, by having a good skin on a low poly mesh to give shadows and depth.

Each poly on a mesh also has a part of the skin shown on it as well, so a high poly mesh might be more difficult to skin, depending on how the skin is applied to it.

I did a tutorial on some of this a while back - check it out here -

Basically I try to contribute what I can do in the minimum number of polygons that the program I use to make captures of objects and characters for videos allows me (sometimes I use static images that I animate with artificial intelligence, many times it works better that way than with videos), this minimum option is "up to 10K" many times it solves in less, other times just less than 10k, that's the problem, I suppose it needs more to be able to account for what the object itself is? It would be lighter and faster for me if I worked with less.
I understand that sometimes Daglob and RD lowered the number of polygons of different meshes that I had made, initially I didn't know how to lower it and I made the captures even higher in polygons, then I learned to lower it to what it offers me as a minimum option.

Randomdays

Besides Blender, I'm using a program called Freecad for lowering polycount. Blender can take a long to reduce the polys, where Freecad is very quick.

Like Blender, Freecad can handle stl, obj, and many more different formats, but not nifs.

RommyNa

In conclusion, there is nothing about those cartoons nor are they developing anything?

Randomdays

If you're asking if anyone is working on bringing them into the game, I can only say for myself that I have a lot of projects on my list, so it would be a very long time before I would get to them. I can't speak for the others here, so they may work on them for you.

cranlox

Somewhere I have the models of 4 or 5 Doc McStuffins characters but I don't know how to put skeletons on them and I don't know what polygon size they will have.
I would definitely like the sheep of them haha
There are no official models of the dinos, what I made is a sample of what I can contribute.
There are probably many Hello Kitty models but I don't remember keeping any of them, these drawings are very fashionable nowadays and my niece would love one of those that is a kind of rabbit with long ears.
Anyway, they are 100% out of my reach.

RommyNa

There are some Shrek ones, I think there was the dragon and Shrek and I lost them.
