Hi!

How to change the code of the game in the rumble room to more than 4 characters?

Thank you for your answers!

UI is hardcoded for 4 characters I believe. FFX add-on has options in rumble room to have more than 4 heroes on your team but you need to switch between them manually so you don't directly control more than 4 at any time.

I also dreamed of this for a long time.

Your best bet is asking a hacker. Like the Marvel Ultimate Alliance modders. They somehow altered MUA to have a 50 roster and a completely new select screen.

There's been a petition for Irrational Games to release the games source code since they're not doing anything with this franchise anyway. But they don't give a crap. Surprising for how moddable they made the game in the first place. If you want to see how far you can take the game engine when modders have access to source code take a look at Jagged Alliance 2 1.13.

Yeah it's really cool.

I was lurking the Irrational forums back then. I think it's a hopeless case.

Maybe someday some hackers would crack this game. I hope so.

To the contrary, Irrational *did* care, they were very active with their user/fan base.  Several of the original team had accounts here in the early days, as well as Minute Man's voice actor.  They provided the original mod tools early on.

The problem lies in their acquisition by Take-Two Interactive.  I haven't been current on the game's news since then, but I would be surprised if any of IG's staff were still employed by them at this point.  The source code topic gets brought up every now & then, and it usually ends with the lack of concern on Take-Two's part.  How old is the game now?  Old enough to not make it very high on their radar or priority list.

With that said, even without the full source code, Dr. Mike, and other modders, have unlocked/added/created a *ton* of new features in the game.  I think they more than doubled the original amount of attributes.  Could we potentially do a lot more if we had the source code?  Probably, but the pool of interested modders with the time is pretty dry at this point.  I will always support and encourage every tweak the community can still figure out for the game, but barring someone at Take-Two getting an inspired bug up their arse to release that code, I don't think we'll see any major changes.
