Glitch Girl

Hello.

Oh wait I probably should say more...

Well, this winter was cold for my southern blood, and I basically went into sort of "hibernation".  I'd get home from work, make some dinner, then curl up under a quilt and read.  (for the record, I'm up to book 8 of the Dresden files, plus I've reread most of my Pratchetts).  Sometime about mid-March I realized that besides from a few odd projects, I'd cut my online time down to near nil and had fallen behind on most of my regular haunts and that's not good but part of me felt really guilty about it too - I wanted to try to catch up, but there never seemed to be time and if I waited until I did get caught up, I'd probably not do anything for who knows how long.

So, this is a quick note to say I'm sorry I vanished unannounced like that (I meant to post an entry in Blue Bard's fiction contest but for the life of me I can't find it any more, and for that I am doubly sorry) and basically I'm okay.  Things have been a bit strange - not bad, but "strange", can't go into details-  however I still have a job, still have a cat, still doing pretty good.

hello.
always good to see one of the o.g.  (original gamers).
if you are looking for good reads, steven kings new 'under the dome' is one of his best character driven books.  especially if you can get the audio book form.  that reader does voices so well, it feels like different people talking.

BlueBard

Glad to have you back, as much as you are able!

No need to catch up, it's just like swimming in the lake.  You get used to it much faster if you just dive in.

My sister says it's been miserable cold where you are. It's even been nasty cold here (but not enough to freeze the Bay). Just started the Harry Dresden books myself. Have you read the "Man with the Golden Torc" series?

Tawodi Osdi

Weather this year had definitely been weird.  I live in OK and we got it worse than a friend of mine near Chicago, but a friend from around Dallas got it as bad as we did.

JeyNyce

Seems like everybody been busy.  Don't worry about it GG, we're just happy that you and Glitch Cat are doing well.
I don't call for tech support, I AM TECH SUPPORT!
It's the internet, don't take it personal!

Nyte Dragon

Welcome back GG. Glad you're doing good. I'd post a longer welcome back but this phone i'm using makes it a pain. I'll try and send you a text msg soon.
We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?

Thanks guys.  Y'all are the reason I keep coming back to this oasis in the interwebs.  :)

A little further note on weather-ish things...
I have a yellow car.  It WAS blue a few days ago.  Now it looks like someone dumped a bucket of yellow paint on it because of all the pollen.  I haven't seen it this thick in a while.  Heck, after my afternoon walk I was dusting off my jeans like some cowboy coming in off the desert.  We've got a little rain coming up soon, so that will help a bit hopefully.

(BTW: look forward to it ND.  Want to hear how you and your little one are doing)

My nose is starting to itch just thinking about that much pollen.

lugaru

It must look like you are driving a giant yellow fuzzy caterpillar. Hope things are good, the community is still great either way.

In my experience, life tends to be kind of strange...

Good to see you (so to speak)! Glad to hear things are going okay.
Fear the "A"!!!

GG! I'm glad to see you around again!

Man oh man Dresden is amazing. Good times.

The Phantom Eyebrow

Welcome back to the fold GG.  Sounds like some pretty oppressive climatic conditions of late (I can only imagine: our climate just comes in various shades of gray or beige  :P).

Glad to hear you're doing well.  :)

Sevenforce

Oh, see, the explanation is almost...normal. I thought something had glitched and you'd blown your PSU on your computer :P

Glad to hear all is going well. And hey, curling up with a good book? I can think of worse ways to spend my spare time :)
I so need booze -_-

Glitch Girl

Thanks guys.

And for the record, I have the bestest best friend EVAH!!!

I've know him for almost 20 years.  We met in college and have ketp in touch.  We see each other once a year a Dragon Con (he's in NYC, I am not).  Well, my birthday is this week, and he sent me a present... a PS3.  "Shock and awe" does not begin to cover how I felt about this.  We talked before it arrived and I gave him about a bazillion thank-yous.  I also ordered him a game as an additional thank-you and so we can play co-op.

The fact that he gave me a little warning that it was coming also added to a comedy moment earlier today.  Since I wasn't going to be home to intercept the package, he sent it to family who lives nearby in town (specifically, Mom).  I was just waiting for the call that said the box had arrived, had been talking about it to my office mates when the phone rang. Here's roughly what they heard on my end.

Me: "Hello?"

Me: "Did it arrive?"

Me: "..."

Me: "No, I already have some red throw pillows."

Me: [sigh]

Office: [laughing]

Anyhoo... I also had ice cream cake today, and next wekk, I'm off because I have vacation time.  WHOOO!!!

Happy Birthday Glitchie, and you're right that is a pretty stupendous present!  Red throw pillows eh?

Ah nice one though, and welcome to the club - if your console provides you with half the fun mine has provided me... well, er... that would still be good...

Glitch Girl

Thanks Eyebrow.  As you can imagine, it was a VERY good birthday.  :D   Already I'm having a blast with it.  It came with Final Fantasy 13 (which I've been playing almost obsessively over my vacation), and I got Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 used so I've got a multiplayer for local friends (played solo campaign a little too, Titanium Man is HARD!) and downloaded a whole mess of demos, only a few I've actually gotten through so far.  I've also discovered PSHome which is fun to roam around in.  Mostly I've just been exploring, looking for freebies or just cool environments thus far.

At some point I shall add my ID to the Game list in the games forum.

Oh yeah, and for the record, post 10,000.

And yet, Sword still has more.  I'm not sure which is sadder.

And I, also, am glad to hear you're ok.  I was starting to get worried before you initially posted.  But you know how frequently I post in "threads like these".  (I put it in quotes just to save whoever denigrates/mocks me the trouble)

"Some point"? Why wait? Some of us would love to play a PS3 game with you asap, if possible.

Loser. :P

Glitch Girl

Why wait?  Two reasons:

1) I'm still feeling out how online play is - what's involved and so forth.  Past experience has taught me to be cautions if just anyone can join in.

2) I REALLY have to get some real life stuff done first.  Stuff I've been neglecting BADLY since I got this box just in time for vacation.  I need to get a regular routines set back in before I know how much game time I will have.

Give it up , fellers.

I've been trying to get her to play COX for years.
PROTIP: If you?re going to build a robot that can think for itself and then make it do menial labor, don?t make it twice your size, indestructible, and strong enough to pick you up and use your body to beat your friends to death. Alas, such is ever the folly of man.
