So yeah, if you've played before, go ahead and try to log in.  Note that it's a gradual process, so if you don't get in the first try, try again later.  I'm working tonight again (second shift a good chunk of this week) but I look forward to seeing some of you back in game as free players later on.  Note that this is only for returning players.  New free accounts will be available next week.

Despite the Freedom server being in the red, it was running fairly smoothly.  My settings are lowish, but decent.

Bunburyist is back.  I was lagged from here to Hertfordshire on Freedom (where my principal toons are housed), but I made it back. :)

I'll need to fiddle with my own settings once again to see if I can't ameliorate the situation, but, aye, it feels good to be back in uniform. ;)

Well, I'm about to take the plunge and try out City of Heroes Freedom.  I downloaded the updated game client last night and made sure I could access my NCSoft account.

We shall see how many of my formerly-beloved heroes and villains shall remain functional.

I think the biggest thing for me was Fitness becoming Inherent at some point.  I still need to respec most of my toons.  In some cases I have no idea what I'm going to do with the three extra power slots.

I'm in, but we'll see if I actually play, free or no.
It would be cool to see you back, Stoppy

This is a problem I like having personally. :)

Yo Rain. Yup, likewise cool. I'm ending my DDO VIP subby this month, but pretty busy with the fam otherwise. The thing I don't like is unlocking a character crashes my game client everytime. - Update: Oh, you need to apply the global slot, then unlock! D'oh!

PS Thanks for not booting NRF membership! :)

According to the website, free players can't create supergroups, so it stands to reason that an existing account that is downgraded to premium would lose the ability to administer their supergroups.

Had the opportunity to update and do some account stuff over the weekend but haven't actually played yet. I didn't have the Going Rogue expansion but was able to pick it up for $16. Little cheaper for me than picking up the pieces individually through Freedom. Plus I get the 1 month VIP to boot :)

Subscribed for 5 years but never got a character to 50 on either side - lol

It will feel good to fill them old shoes again.

I get it.  If they didn't do something like that, there'd be nothing stopping VIP's from creating SG's then promoting free players into leadership positions.

I don't like that previously created SG's aren't grandfathered, but I'm not subbing just to reactivate Paradox Patrol.

But can you still invite and promote?  In that case, I'd certainly be interested in help you reactivate it.  I could make a new toon and act as your proxy to keep the base upkeep going and such.

I dunno, Cat.  It's worth a try to see if it will let us do that.    It still lets me access the SG tools, so we should be able to set something up.

Do you have any unaffiliated characters on Infinity?  I think maybe we can make a wee exception to the "temporally displaced" theme if need be ;)

What day/times will you be on the next few days?

I do admit though, I have a little problem with how they did this.  I paid for City of Villains content, including the base tools, back when it wasn't free.  It was the main reason I bought it.  Now I'm denied use of it.

But, them's the breaks.  Knowing I can play and never spend another dime I don't want to, I guess I can overlook little things like that. :D

Hm. I never got GR either. I might pick it up....or wait til the price goes even lower!!! :)

I never bought GR but I can access those zones...or at least I think they are those zones.  What's up with that?

MJB

catwhowalksbyhimself

No, it is not.   If you bought GR previously, however, you keep all the goodies except for the Incarnate stuff.  If you did not, you can either find a box copy somewhere, or buy those things separately.  The only thing that vet stuff gets you is the GR pre-order enhancements.

Raptor

If you are a VIP subscriber, all of GR & COV is available to you.  They are no longer separate unless you are a freebie.
